We are currently working with a local engineering company based in Hertford who is looking to their growing team. This is a full-time, permanent position, and offers a fantastic opportunity for someone with a practical and hands-on approach to chemical engineering.
This role is ideally suited to a confident and experienced engineer who enjoys a mix of office-based planning and on-site project delivery. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and scaling experimental processes, supporting installations, and contributing to innovation across multiple UK sites.
Duties will include:
Supporting the design, development, and optimisation of chemical and process systems
Assisting in the scale-up of experimental processes from pilot to plant level
Supervising and mentoring junior engineers, technicians, and contractors
Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
Attending site installations and commissioning works (travel to UK-wide sites required)
Contributing to R&D and innovation initiatives
Preparing technical documentation, reports, and presentations
Representing the company in project meetings and client discussions
Required:
Degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline
3–5+ years’ experience in process development or plant operations
Strong practical knowledge of experimental scale-up and process design
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Willingness to travel to various UK project sites as required
A hands-on, problem-solving approach to engineering tasks
Full UK driving licence
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and MS Project
Knowledge of health and safety principles within engineering environments
