We are currently working with a local engineering company based in Hertford who is looking to their growing team. This is a full-time, permanent position, and offers a fantastic opportunity for someone with a practical and hands-on approach to chemical engineering.
This role is ideally suited to a confident and experienced engineer who enjoys a mix of office-based planning and on-site project delivery. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and scaling experimental processes, supporting installations, and contributing to innovation across multiple UK sites.
 
Duties will include:
- Supporting the design, development, and optimisation of chemical and process systems 
- Assisting in the scale-up of experimental processes from pilot to plant level 
- Supervising and mentoring junior engineers, technicians, and contractors 
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards 
- Attending site installations and commissioning works (travel to UK-wide sites required) 
- Contributing to R&D and innovation initiatives 
- Preparing technical documentation, reports, and presentations 
- Representing the company in project meetings and client discussions 
Required:
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline 
- 3–5+ years’ experience in process development or plant operations 
- Strong practical knowledge of experimental scale-up and process design 
- Excellent communication and organisational skills 
- Willingness to travel to various UK project sites as required 
- A hands-on, problem-solving approach to engineering tasks 
- Full UK driving licence 
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and MS Project 
- Knowledge of health and safety principles within engineering environments
