Description
Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Finance / Accounts Assistant to support the day-to-day management of the council’s finances. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a varied finance role within a public sector environment offering stability, responsibility, and excellent benefits. The position is working a 30 hour week and candidates must have experience working in an accounts position previously.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carrying out daily financial transactions in line with council procedures
  • Raising invoices and maintaining the sales and purchase ledgers
  • Performing bank reconciliations and assisting with financial reporting
  • Processing monthly payroll
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns
  • General finance administration as required
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • A good understanding of bookkeeping principles
  • Previous experience using Sage Accounts
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional telephone manner
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Experience in customer service is an advantage
