About the Role

If you are someone who is dedicated, detail-oriented, and experienced in finance, this part-time role could be the perfect opportunity for you! Hours are Monday to Thursday 9am to 4pm but can be flexible for the right person.

As a Finance / Accounts Assistant within a local authority, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient management of financial operations that support vital public services.

A good knowledge of bookkeeping is essential. The role also requires accuracy, strong organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. Experience using Sage is essential and previous experience working for in Local Government would be an advantage.

What you’ll be doing

  • Processing invoices and maintaining accurate sales and purchase ledgers
  • Completing bank reconciliations
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns in compliance with regulations
  • Providing financial administration and support to the wider team
  • Assisting in the monitoring and control of expenditure
  • Helping to prepare the local authority’s annual budget estimates
  • Completing their annual accounts and coordinating internal and external audits
